Chemin de Fer Basics – Part 2

We carry on with our article on the basics of black jack. In Part 1 we covered the approach of the game, hitting, holding with the current hand and how to double down. In part 2 we’ll talk about splitting, surrendering and insurance.
Split: if a player is dealt 2 cards of the same value (2 eights for example) he may split them to make 2 different hands. If you decide to separate your hand you will need to make a new wager equal to the original wager.
Surrender: A few betting houses will let gamblers to surrender the hand they have been dealt along with half of the initial bet they made before the croupier checks his hand. Once again it’s essential to inquire with the croupier for clarification on the blackjack table game rules or check out the game rules area on the web betting house you’re gambling on.
Insurance: When the croupiers face up card is an Ace gamblers have the ability to purchase insurance. You’ll lay half of the initial wager before the croupier checks his cards; if the croupier has black jack you will come away with a win on the insurance wager but still lose the original sum. Regrettably if the croupier does not have chemin de fer the gambler loses the insurance. It’s a chance but one that’s well worth it, if used as part of a smart plan.
As soon as a competitor has stood or busted by going over twenty-one the croupier will reveal his hand and will continue to deal themselves cards until one of the following events has happened: if he has surpassed seventeen, a croupier will not normally draw another card because of the chance of going bust, if he has drawn 21 or if he has gone bust.
