Black Jack ABC’s – Part 1
by Marco on March 11th, 2010
The general concept of the game is to be handed cards adding up to 21. Every player is assigned two cards. When a blackjack player is dealt a nine or lower value card and an Ace they have been dealt a soft hand. When the black jack player is dealt no Ace it is called as a hard hand. Once the cards have been dealt all players at the blackjack table, including the dealer, every black jack player is given the chance to make 1 of six decisions:
Requesting another card (Hit): When a player announces "hit me" the dealer will deal him another card, if the addition of that card makes the total greater than 21 the player will have busted and be excluded from the game, if the card makes the value of the hand to twenty-one the gambler wins and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet achieved twenty one they’re still in the game.
Keeping the hand you have been dealt: If a blackjack player is happy with the hand they’ll stand. Once this has happened the dealer will display his or her cards and the player who has accumulated twenty-one or the nearest to twenty-one will acquire a win.
Doubling Down: A player might request to double down which doubles the wager they have made. Once you have taken this action you can only receive 1 more card. The details of doubling down are usually specified by the table or betting house game rules so before betting be certain you’re comfortable with the casino game rules. If you are wagering at an on-line betting house this is usually quite easy.
Stay tuned for part 2.
